So you're a girl and your a geek? Does your art say so?

Geek-Girls is a place to highlight and celebrate the contribution of women in Comics, Games, Cartoons, Animations and Digital Art. Whether your a seasoned professional or an aspiring artist, we welcome women to join and showcase their talent.

For membership to Geek-Girls (and for your artwork to be accepted into the group gallery), you must be a female and your art must highlight geek culture and fit into one of the following folder categories:

:bulletgreen: Comics
:bulletgreen: Films and Movies
:bulletgreen: TV Shows
:bulletgreen: Sci-Fi
:bulletgreen: Fantasy
:bulletgreen: Manga and Anime
:bulletgreen: Cartoons
:bulletgreen: Games
:bulletgreen: 3D
:bulletgreen: Videos and Animations
:bulletgreen: Original Characters

Geek-Girls do not accept the follow submissions:-

:bulletred: work in progress (WIP's)
:bulletred: photography
:bulletred: photo-manipulation
:bulletred: literature
:bulletred: craft-work
:bulletred: art requiring restricted view

Along with these criteria, membership to the group is also judged on the strength of your gallery as a whole and not an individual piece of art. If the majority of your art does not meet the standard we aim to promote, request for membership may be declined.

Please remember that we have high quality standards, so please only submit your best works. :)

Rock on ladies!

I'm sorry for the expired submissions over the past couple of weeks. Things have been crazy around here. My grandma has been diagnosed with cancer and has been given just a few weeks left to live. I'm also so deep in the middle of other real life stuff like planning my wedding - something we can't cancel now that we've set things in motion. Bad timing, horrible timing, but what can we do - we've been planning this for years and now it's almost here. Due to the craziness of my life right now I'm closing down submissions for a bit until things calm down. I thought I could juggle all that's going on with my DA groups but it turns out that it's just not possible for me right now.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. I'll try and be back as soon as everything calms down.

Please, if any of you guys pray, please pray for my grandma. She says "I know what the doctors said, but I'm going to prove them wrong. I'm going to beat this". My grandma is the strongest person I know - if anyone can do it, she can. Please please pray for her.

Thank you all!

I just saw your decline on my membership request, and - without hard feelings - I'd like to comment upon a few things.

I was a little surprised not at least to find a comment as to why I was declined, and it took me quite a while reading through the community's journal as well as comments upon single posts to work out the reasons. I'd therefore like to suggest a clear statement of the group's submission and membership policies. Basically, from what I've understood (and that involved a lot of reading between the lines), you're not just looking for high-quality female artists who define themselves as geeks, you're also looking for certain pieces of art in their galleries, which I'd define as fanart (but I might be wrong there, as I said, it's not that clear from the group's description). Maybe it'd help if you could install a widget on the front page, or the group's "About Us" page, stating very clearly what you accept not just in art, but also in an artist, and that there is a sorting process in general.

As mentioned above, I'm not frustrated or angry about not having been accepted, but I think that these changes could on one point make things easier for aspiring new members (and save one or the other some disappointment), as well as reduce the heap of notes on your side.

Have a nice day/evening/night :star:

Don't feel bad. Almost all my submissions get declined without a single word as to why. I find it a bit rude actually, to decline membership and submissions without bothering to tell people why.

The same thing happened to me. I got declined with no explanation. It would be really nice to have a clear set of rules as to what the group is looking for in its members.

Hi Hisietari and thanks for your comment. It's always helpful to get feedback on the group to help improve standards and clarify issues. I've taken on board your comments and will put some of your suggestions into action.

I'm sorry you didn't make the group and I can't always offer feedback on why people are declined but I appreciate your sentiments nonetheless.

Many thanks.

Cheers! :)

It doesn't always happen that constructive suggestions get taken that well either. ;)
